On Sale at Lands’ End:  $21 Tailored Fit Linen-Cotton Trousers
Originally $79. Use promo code GENTLE (PIN 2330) for 30% off one item.
It seems like Lands’ End has been reticent in releasing promo codes that work for sale items, lately—most of the ones released in the past few months have been good only on full-price merchandise. So while the 30% off promo code expiring today is nice for the new arrivals I highlighted last week (the nailhead baseball jacket is probably my favorite), it’s also a rare opportunity to stack additional discounts on sale merchandise. For example, at $27 shipped (excluding tax), these tailored fit linen-cotton trousers are a steal.
I own a pair of these trousers in navy as part of a suit, and they’ve served me well for two summers, keeping me cool and comfortable in temperatures up past the 100°F mark. The 54/46 linen-cotton blend fabric—sourced from the famous Baird McNutt linen mill in Ireland—has a great open weave to help air pass through. The trousers themselves are also well-made, featuring a split-back waist and a rather impressive fly area, with a double hook-and-bar closure, extended tab and hidden jigger button. It makes for a very clean-looking front if you’re inclined to wear the trousers without a belt.
It looks like Navy is sold out online*, but they still have quite a few available in “Sand Dollar” white and Sail Blue. Kiyoshi picked up a few of the trousers in white a year ago, and has great fit pics from California’s wine country. It’s worth noting that at the time he thought they were a great deal at $56 shipped, and now they’re half that price.
*Tip: if your waist size or preferred color is sold out online, call Lands’ End Customer Care at 1-800-963-4816 and ask them to check their “pre-hemmed stock.” This is their stock of returned trousers that have been hemmed to a customer’s specifications and so aren’t resold online. Customer Care will let you know if they have a pair that works for your inseam. I was able use this method to score a second pair of the navy pants to use as spare suit trousers. Be sure to mention the promo code GENTLE and the item number for the trousers (411751-WQ4).
